There’s an open submission thingy going on and the theme is ‘In Common’. I want to look at what we have in common with nature.
So, I guess the first question is:
What do we have in common with nature?
Answers on a postcard please.

Thanks so very much to all that came to see the first B-VAC exhibition! It really was a great success.
I had a slight problem with hanging stuff up and we ran out of drinks, but for something that is funded entirely by us I think it was executed very well.
As this is my first exhibition ever (aside from the uni Degree Show) I felt really nervous about how well it’d be received, but my fears were put to rest once the event started. There’s a certain sense of satisfaction when you see someone looking at your artwork. Even if they don’t like it, just knowing that they’ve taken the time to form an opinion on it is more than satisfying.
Here’s a copy of the work I exhibited. (click to expand)
These are the last two screenshots I’ll show as it’s nearly finished. I don’t wanna ruin the final piece
The other three are looking great as well. A few more minor adjustments to each and then off to print! Don’t forget to come along, join the facebook group or whatever!
So yeah, the first exhibition of B-VAC (Birmingham Visual Arts Coalition) is taking place soon. See flyer below.

I’ve set up a Twitter account for B-VAC but not quite sure where to go with it yet. Lets call it an experiment!
Birmingham Visual Arts Coalition has an exhibition coming up, and I’m making some new artwork for it. As a little experiment I’ll be showing you the progress shots from one of the pieces. Any comments or suggestions are welcome!
Achieved today in Illustrator. You can also look at the Sketchbook page for more of an idea of what I’m doing.
There’s something about this current exhibition at the Ikon that made me want to go back to it twice. The way that the light hits all of the balls scattered across the floor reminded me of marbles or Dragon Egg Fractals. Here’s one a I made earlier

For anyone not familiar with Fractals, they’re usually created with programs like Apophysis (free/open source) or Ultra Fractal (paid) More fractals in the gallery.
The exhibition’s only on until 24th March, so get your running shoes on and see it!
A followup to the last post. Here’s the blurb from the video caption:
Insectoid went to Earlswood and engaged in a silent, collaborative painting experiment.
We decided the basic plan beforehand, but no verbal communication took place during the 2.5 hours of painting.
The process of carrying back to the studio had an effect on some sections of the painting
I’ve been having a lot of problems with my computer recently. To add to the fact that it kept crashing my DVD writer wasn’t working, so I couldn’t back up anything! Oh noes! After a very lengthy process involving using my iPod to transfer 100GB to a computer with a working writer I thought I was in the clear to reinstall Windows. Or so I thought. I restarted my computer one day and, after checking for errors, it deleted my ‘Unfinished Projects’ folder, which included some collaboration work. Unfortunately for me this is the one folder I forgot to backup! D’oh!
So now I present to you unfinished versions of my collaborative work with Nahshon McPherson that will unfortunately never be finished.
