Concrete Cinema – Resonate Festival

19/04/2022 @ 20:30 - 22:00 BST

An outdoor projection installation showing films that were made for concrete.

Love it or hate it, Coventry’s concrete is part of the experience of living in the city.

Concrete Cinema is an outdoor projection installation that will jumpstart a conversation around the materials that make up the city, and the kinds of buildings we want to live in, work in and look at.

This extraordinary screening uses artistic practices to help understand the urban environments that we live and work in every day with the artists making work specifically for projection onto concrete surfaces and architecture. The installation features new works by artists commissioned to make films that recognise and interact with the surface on which they are projected.

Artists include Laura Dicken, Benedict Drew and Antonio Roberts, alongside a film produced by Michael Lightborne/Dr. Michael Pigott as part of the Sensing the City research project.

Supported by the Sustainable Cities GRP and the Arts Impact Fund at the University of Warwick, Coventry Biennial and Cinecov/Flatpack Festival this project responds directly to research generated by The Projection Project and Sensing the City, both AHRC funded research projects based at Warwick between 2014 and 2020.
